Hybrid propulsion

CRAIN is involved in research, development and assessment of auxiliary wind driven propulsion system and deal more especially with the following topics :

  • modeling, performances estimation and optimization of unconventional wind systems, such as :
    • kites
    • rotors
    • lift increase by suction
    • unconventional rigs
  • performances estimation and energy consumption for ship fitted with hybrid propulsion systems (conventional propulsion plus wind driven propulsion system)
  • route optimization on various criterions (energy savings and travel duration)
  • consultancy for emerging project in this field
